Job Description: Mechanical Engineer (Entry Level)

Cambridge Security Seals seeks an entry-level Mechanical Engineer with an interest in injection molding and automated manufacturing, including product design, mold tooling, and plastics processing. This is an immediate opening at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pomona, NY.The primary focus of this position will be to immediately apply and further develop technical and design skills to support the Quality Engineering, automated manufacturing, and other automated and mechanical systems within the organization.

At CSS, our engineers contribute to a variety of projects across many aspects of manufacturing and operations, and this position will utilize your technical knowledge and education, with a particular focus on CAD. Some experience is certainly advantageous, but not essential, as our in-house training will provide the tools necessary for the right candidate to achieve success. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Working within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to customers, tooling engineers, automation engineers, and maintenance personnel.
  • Participating in the mechanical design and coordination of various projects involving quality engineering and part design, with an emphasis on tooling and process support.
  • Focusing on Quality Engineering, including analysis and testing of parts (both new and existing designs) and troubleshooting quality issues.
  • Establishing design criteria, performing design calculations, assisting in materials selection, developing detailed drawing designs for full documentation of the design, and writing associated material and product specifications required for a completely documented design package.
  • Ensuring compliance to ISO and UL standards, including inspection call-outs and associated in-process inspection documentation.
  • Performing computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) work that requires a knowledge of CADD using Solid Works.
  • Gradually increased involvement with manipulating customer-provided artwork, as well as developing new artwork for proofing layouts, barcoding field positioning, and related tasks.
  • Providing engineering support for automation projects, plant infrastructure, and other CADD and engineering support.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors' degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field of study.
  • A performance-driven, team-oriented and client-focused attitude/demeanor.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills and an impressive work ethic.
  • Strong technical writing ability.
  • A strong educational/technical background.
  • Strong proficiency in Solid Works, and a good understanding/proficiency with Solid Works 3D modeling and print generation.
  • Functional proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook).
  • The ability to work productively and cooperatively in a team environment.

This is a manufacturing-facility-based position in Rockland County. You must presently live in or have a reasonable daily commute to the Rockland County area. In addition, you must pass initial and random drug testing.

Job Description: Machine Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Department: Manufacturing
Employment status: Full-time/Exempt


This role involves maintenance support for the facility and production equipment. Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and ensure all procedures are documented on time. Support the manufacturing operation and by providing technical assistance, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and automation equipment with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical or electronic components and processes.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Equipment maintenance and repair
  • Work with team to maintain the facility to company standards.
  • Project work at the direction of Director of Manufacturing
  • Continuous communication with department leads, supervisors and managers.
  • Must have reasonable shift flexibility.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and familiarity of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with programming, troubleshooting and operating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Technical expertise in repairing and maintaining production and automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, compressed air and control systems.
  • Hands on technical knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team personnel.
  • Ability to work in a timely and efficient manner.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education, certification and work experience.
